Boxer

“Developed in Germany, the Boxer is a breed of stocky, medium-sized, short-haired dog. The coat is smooth and fawn or brindled, with or without white markings. Boxers are brachycephalic, and have a square muzzle, mandibular prognathism (an underbite), very strong jaws and a powerful bite ideal for hanging on to large prey. The Boxer was bred from the English Bulldog and the now extinct Bullenbeisser and is part of the Molosser group.

The Boxer was first exhibited in a dog show for St. Bernards at Munich in 1895, the first Boxer club being founded the next year. Based on 2007 American Kennel Club statistics, Boxers are the sixth most popular breed of dog in the United States—moving up from the seventh spot for the first time since 2002—with 33,548 new dog registrations during the year.

History
————-
The Boxer is part of the Molosser group, developed in Germany in the late 1800s from the now extinct Bullenbeisser, a dog of Mastiff descent, and Bulldogs brought in from England. The Bullenbeisser had been working as a hunting dog for centuries, employed in the pursuit of bear, wild boar, and deer. Its task was to seize the prey and hold it until the hunters arrived. In later years, faster dogs were favored and a smaller Bullenbeisser was bred in Brabant, in northern Belgium. It is generally accepted that the Brabanter Bullenbeisser was a direct ancestor of today’s Boxer.

In 1894, three Germans by the name of Roberth, Konig, and Hopner decided to stabilize the breed and put it on exhibition at a dog show. This was done in Munich in 1895, and the next year they founded the first Boxer Club, the Deutscher Boxer Club. The Club went on to publish the first Boxer breed standard in 1902, a detailed document that has not been changed much to this day.

The breed was introduced to other parts of Europe in the late 19th century and to the United States around the turn of the century. The American Kennel Club (AKC) registered the first Boxer in 1904, and recognized the first Boxer champion, Dampf vom Dom, in 1915. During World War I, the Boxer was co-opted for military work, acting as a valuable messenger dog, pack-carrier, attack dog, and guard dog. It was not until after World War II that the Boxer became popular around the world. Boxer mascots, taken home by returning soldiers, introduced the dog to a much wider audience and it soon became a favorite as a companion, a show dog, and a guard dog.”

THIS IS THE AFTER EFFECT AFTER THE PUPPY GOT SLAPPED REALLY HARD!! I BELIEVE YOU HAVE SEEN MY OTHER VIDEO, WHICH SHOWS THE PUPPY BEFORE IT GOT SLAPPED. I DID NOT VIDEO THE PROCESS WHEN THE PUPPY GOT HIT BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW THAT THE PUPPY WAS GOING TO GET HIT. POOR CRYING PUPPY!

THIS INCIDENT IS AT SINGAPORE, PET SHOP NAME IS CALLED PET SAFARI, BESIDE THE SIMEI MRT TRAIN STATION. PUPPY CRYING AND CRYING AFTER IT GO HIT/WHACK EXTREMLY HARD BY THE PET SAFARI PET SHOP STAFF (I ALREADY UPLOADED THE CRYING PUPPY VIDEO IN YOUTUBE). THIS INCIDENT IS AT SINGAPORE, PET SHOP NAME IS CALLED PET SAFARI, BESIDE THE SIMEI MRT TRAIN STATION. 26 June 2007 Tuesday afternoon 12.58pm, I visited Pet Safari besides Simei MRT to look at their puppies section. To my right side was Pet Safari’s entrance door, in front of me were all the puppies, and to my left side, was about another 6 puppies. All puppies on display via glass ‘fish’ tank I walked left towards the 6 puppies and one Golden Retriever puppy caught my attention because it kept biting bits and pieces OFF a purple dog toy (look like hard sponge material), to chew/munch the pieces long enough, so that it can swallow. The puppy repeated the same process over and over again. I have video taped it down and uploaded the video into the ‘you tube’ website (), take a look. I looked carefully at the purple toy and reconfirmed that it is NOT a food but instead it’s a very harmful material to get into a dog’s body. I also noticed that there is no other objects/food tray/food except for this purple ’sponge’ toy. So I guess this 3 month old puppy must be really hungry! And IT it thought that this purple thing can be eaten and swallowed! Therefore quickly looked around for the person in charge of puppies, and saw this tall and slim Pet Safari guy staff talking non-stop on the wireless phone/handphone, I stood there waiting for him to ask me ‘Yes, may I help you?’ but he DIDN’T. So I waved my hand and told him the puppy is biting bits off/Swallowing the purple sponge, and asked whether if he can remove the purple toy from the puppy’s cubical. Upon hearing what I said, this tall guy walked to the inside of dogs’s section so that he can open the cage/feed dog etc. Initially i thought ”wow finally this pet shop staff is removing the sponge thingy so that the puppy will not eat it’. Then i stood there and looking from the outside of fish tank I can see the tall slim guy’s figure walking towards the Golden Retriever puppy. This guy, While STILL chatting on the wireless phone/handphone, opened the cage (LEFT side of glass tank). The Golden Retriever puppy was so happy when he sees him opening the cage!! The puppy quickly stood at the left side side of its glass tank, wagging its tail, nodding its head (I think puppy thought that somebody is going to open cage to give him a hug/pat/smile/rub/food). BUT INSTEAD, ONCE THE CAGE DOOR WAS OPENED, THE PUPPY IMMEDIATELY GOT WHACKED ON THE HEAD!! I am not sure of the degree of force the tall guy was using to hit the puppy’s head but IT MUST BE REALLY REALLY CLOSE TO FULL FORCE STRENGTH!!! For your info, thesmall display ‘fishtank’ (the 3 mth old puppy is in, like the other puppies) has glass glue that stick the four corners of the thick glass to the wall borders, which makes the ‘glass fish tank’ quite sound proof (the first puppy i looked at when i walk towards the dogs display section was a husky, it was young and excited when it saw me so i can see the husky barking and barking, but the barking sound i hear from outside the tank was very MUFFLED, and SOFT). So here comes the shocking thing. when the tall guy slap/hit/whack the puppy’s head(including the puppy’s left ear area), i could hear a LOUD THUD!! a loud SLAM/SMACK OR ‘PAP’ SOUND!!!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! The 1st milli-second i heard the SMACK sound and then immediately the 2nd milli-second I SAW THE PUPPY FLEW FROM LEFT ALL THE WAY TO RIGHT SIDE OF THE DISPLAY TANK!!! HUH???!!! WHEN THE PUPPY FLEW TO THE RIGHT SIDE, AGAIN HIS
HEAD/BODY/NECK SLAM AGAINST THE FISH TANK WALL!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! THE TALL GUY HIT THE PUPPY
THAT HARD!!!!??? THEN THE GUY SLAM THE CAGE DOORS AND WALKED AWAY!!!! WHILE HE WALKED AWAY HE WAS STILL TALKING OVER THE PHONE.

There were 2 Pet Safari customers/viewers beside me and I heard one of them saying ‘why did he hit the puppy?’ As I was still in total shock, I also asked them the 2 customers why the tall guy staff hit the puppy. They have no idea. If you were there, you could see the puppy’s total mood change. The poor puppy crept low, and with its head flat on its paws, you could see the puppy crying and kept blinking its wet eyes. IT IS TRAUMATIC!!! I kept trying to cheer the puppy up or at least convey a message to puppy that says ‘don’t cry puppy!! there are nice people outside the fish tank hoping to cuddle/pat/saying you! Its just that we are not allowed to get in!! Don’t cry!!’ Thereafter, I also separately told/asked 2 other Pet Safari pet shop staff of why the puppy got hit so hard that its to an extreme extent of getting classified as animal abuse. The 2 staff’s reactions to my question, was that they ‘couldn’t do anything about this hitting inccident’, ‘its just like that’, ‘don’t worry about the puppy’, ‘close one eye’, ‘pretend you never see the incident in Pet Safari pet shop’.

Can we all put all our heads together to think of something to stop this incident from happening again? Pls help. I do not have the tall guy’s name but how can we stop these from happening in this Pet Safari pet shop thats located beside Simei Mrt, Singapore?
